Family Interpreting Service
Support for Hawaii families with Japanese-speaking elders and loved ones.
What is Family Interpreting Service?
When your parent or relative speaks Japanese, but complex conversations happen in English—about health, legal matters, finances, or simply life—it can be hard to connect clearly. That’s where I come in.
The Family Interpreting Support Plan provides flexible, on-demand interpreting support for families with Japanese-speaking elders or relatives.
You purchase minutes and use them as you need—whether for a full family meeting or a short check-in. You’ll have a go-to interpreter who understands the family context and builds ongoing trust.

Mini Concierge Service (Premium Plan Only)
Sometimes, what your family needs is small—but still meaningful.
The Mini Concierge Service allows you to use your minutes for brief, focused interactions (under 15 minutes), such as:
- Joining a quick 3-way call to remind your loved one about an appointment
- Assisting with a brief in-person conversation (e.g., helping explain a new medication or schedule change)
- Clarifying a message in the moment, when direct communication matters
These are live, direct interactions—not background coordination or message relays.
You remain part of the conversation; I support the communication as it unfolds.
These mini-sessions are only available to Premium Plan clients, offering a sense of continuity and care even when the task is short.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q. What if I don’t use all my minutes? Do they expire?
All minutes are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. After 12 months, any unused minutes will expire.
If you’re concerned about usage, consider starting with the Lite Plan ($120 for 120 minutes).
Q. Can I get a refund for unused minutes?
Refunds are not available, but your minutes can be transferred or gifted to another family member, friend, or caregiver.
Transfer Policy:
- A $25 processing fee applies for each transfer
- The processing fee can be paid directly or deducted from your remaining minutes (e.g., 25 minutes = $25 value)
Q. Can I use this service outside Honolulu?
Yes, in some cases—but additional transportation charges may apply for areas outside Honolulu city.
Please inquire when booking, and I’ll give you a clear estimate before confirming your session.
Q. Do you charge for transportation time?
For sessions within Honolulu city, travel time is included in your plan—your minutes only count from the time I arrive on site.
For sessions outside the city or requiring extended travel, additional time or a flat fee may apply.
I’ll always let you know ahead of time. Please inquire if you’re unsure about your area.
Q. Can I just send you a message and ask you to tell it to my parent?
In general, this service is meant to support live, two-way communication, where you’re part of the conversation—either in person or via a 3-way call.
If you’d like me to relay a message on your behalf (for example, “Can you tell my mom we’re changing the doctor’s appointment?”), I’m happy to help as long as it fits within your plan.
Just know that both sides of the interaction count—prepping with you and delivering the message both take time, and those minutes will be deducted accordingly.
💡 If you’re on the Premium Plan, short tasks like this may fall under the Mini Concierge Service and only use a small portion of your minutes.
For Lite or Standard Plan clients, the 30-minute minimum still applies.
If you’re ever unsure how something will be counted, just ask—I’ll always be transparent before starting.
Q. Can I use my minutes for short reminders or check-ins?
Yes—but only if you’re on the Premium Plan, which includes access to the Mini Concierge Service.
This allows for under-15-minute interactions like:
- A 3-way call to confirm a schedule
- A brief check-in with your loved one to clarify something
These tasks still use your minutes but are designed to make ongoing support smoother and more human.
